Mitsuwa Umaimono Gourmet Fair 2011 - A Kukuru-ick Look

The Umaimono Gourmet Fair is happening at all So. Cal Mitsuwa Market locations. My previous partial coverages in 2010 here and here. Just dropped in our San Diego branch on the way home tonight to have a quick light dinner. [I've since posted on the 2011 Fair and link to it here.]

Takoyaki (octopus dumpling balls?) from Osaka's Takoya Kukuru. May be a bit high for $7.50 (after tax) but if I were told $2 went into the beautiful packaging I'd believe it, haha. And I'm a bit of a nut for pretty packaging. :)

Molten custardy inside with large soft octopus pieces. These are the more classic softer pillowy outer. The crispy versions that people sometimes almost seem to expect these days are a relatively new phenomenon btw. Anyway if you're at all curious, check out a Mitsuwa near you this weekend. The fair ends this Sunday and there'll also be a special ramen demonstration at the Costa Mesa and Torrance store as well. Click for more details here or here. Hi Kat! That's right, you live in Osaka, duh.... ;)

Hi CC, yes it's called non other than Takoyaki Sauce, he he. But they're all variations of the Japanese Worcestershire sauce. I blogged about it here.
