The Hump Day Post

Hump day food bloggish post...

Again - When In Doubt, In-N-Out? I might be finding the slogan true for not only indecisive lunch hours but also for energy/idea-less blog nights. Drove passed an In-N-Out Semi during one very early morning commute to work.

I imagine delivering the fresh unfrozen products from Baldwin Park (one of their few distribution centers). Why you can't find them yet in many other parts of the country. Other random In-N-Out photos quickly gathered. I'm pretty sure the last Double-Double was mine.

Most everyone knows about their secret menu but did you know you can also get extra sauce by the (large) packet for free, as well as pickled hot peppers?

Another from early dinner many years ago. Arrows indicate extra concentration of Higgs boson, aka "God particles." Only higher concentration is thought to be found in Pork and Duck fat. Just goofing.

Official In-N-Out website.

Did you know that the meat for the In-n-Out burgers comes from the Harris Ranch which is also known as "Cowschwitz" because how badly they treat the animals.

Hello Anon. I sleep well at night knowing the life of a cow has been respectfully transformed into delicious double-double's for many to enjoy. I support In-N-Out for their commitment in serving a quality well executed product to the masses.

Hi Kat, sure is!

i hope yo weren't going 65 mph when you took that photo of the In-N-Out semi! :)

I had In-N-Out for dinner last night! Boy, was it tasty! I see you like the regular onions, too. For some reason the grilled onions are too much for me. I like the bite of the raw onion. And massive amounts of garlic (but not on my burgers). It's a wonder anyone ever wants to kiss me.

Regarding the chiles, did you know you can have the burger cooked with the chiles chopped and pressed into the patty? Best. Thing. Ever.

Hi CC! I swear I wasn't going very fast (uphill) when I took it. And my other hand was firmly planted onto the mcmuffin.. (JK!)

Hi Mary! Yeah I usually prefer the raw onions! I've been switching up between ketchup and their sauce depending on my mood recently though.

Hi Vicki! I think you just uncovered a new secret menu! You should do a post and have it named after yourself. Must try it...

I haven't had In-N-Out in forever. Your pictures look so yummy. The fiancee had it a few weeks ago without me and told me he thinks it's still better than Five Guys. I need to visit In-n-out and compare the two.

I went to the 5 Guys in San Marcos and was completely unimpressed and disappointed, just FYI.

Reminder to self: get an In-N-Out burger before heading home today WITH peppers.

Cheeseburger animal-style with chilies for me. Sometimes it's a little too spicy, so I end up pulling out a few bits of chilies, but it adds a nice dimension to the burger.

I didn't know about the pickled hot peppers, awesome! I am so craving a double double now. And I think I'll have to ask for the extra pack of sauce too. The Mister said he might get a 4x4 Animal Style next time but I am betting he's not going to be able to finish it.

Hi Kirbie! I definitely suggest the double-double. Hope you have it there while it's still freshly made. Hot/cold/crispy/gooey/meaty/veggie/fluffy/chewy. It's a well balanced california burger.

Hi again Vicki, I wasn't impressed with Five Guys either. Not bad, but definitely don't get the hype. Many say the same about the In-N-Out too though, haha. Just means more for me. :)

Hi Darlene, me too! Maybe this weekend..

Hi WC! How've you been? Vicki's version seems integral with the patty. Have you tried that way? Hope you're doing well!

Hi Carol! When indulging, recently I might prefer two double-doubles to maybe a single 4X4. Again, about the balance. But from my last experience the 3X2 might be "the one." But haven't had the chance yet, haha. :)

Yup. When you order it with chilies, they chop up the chilies and fry it with the patty so that's why it tends to be spicier than if I just take bites of chilies on the side.

Hi WC! I really must try that next time I have a hankering for something spicy. And I just read this SeriousEats article. If it makes the customoer happy I guess In-N-Out is willing to do most any special requests. :)
